Multifaith Dialogues And Events
Our congregation is very active in interfaith activities. Ahavat Torah shares a sanctuary with a Lutheran congregation and a Sufi Muslim Musallah.
Each year at Sukkot, when we gather in the Sukkah at 343 Church Lane, our Muslim and Christian cousins join us in a Sukkah of Peace ceremony.
The warmth and cooperation between these Abrahamic religions began with the active participation of members and clergy in the Jewish-Christian-Muslim Cousins Club. This is a group of women who hold dialogue conversations once a month to explore similarities and differences and create a model of peacemaking and partnership in which we each share the same physical location, while respecting our diverse ways of praying and celebrating the Eternal One.
We were honored and excited to see our story in the Jewish Journal of December 21st 2011 (Author: Rachel Heller): http://www.jewishjournal.com/ cover_story/article/the_big_tent_jews_muslims_christians_celebrate_spirituality_in_a_shared_sac/
